Description
The turbochargers compressor bypass valve solenoid is a quite common failure point on the 2 and 2.3 litre Ecoboost engines and it causes all kind of boost control issues.
This solenoid is responsible for opening and closing the bypass valve at the correct time under PCM control and we have seen it stick open, stick closed, leak and sometimes just be erratic, causing the compressor bypass valve to be open when it should be closed, or vice versa.
This one is easy to change, you will find it next to cylinder 4 ignition coil.
BEWARE
The cheap Chinese copies of these are very unreliable and can cause you diagnostic nightmares when you assume it can no longer be the solenoid as you have changed it. Only GENUINE Pierburg valves should be used.
